Folks,
So I got a bunch more work done on the display board and wanted to share. If you have seen or played Dawn of War, you know what I am building. The Imperial Guard Field Command always seemed cool, so I wanted to take a stab at making it.
the board is approximately 2 x 2 ft.
I intended put a Battle Fleet Gothic star-ship on the top of this monument, but haven't been able to find one yet given the game has been out of production for almost 10 years.
The skulls on the building are custom made using fimo, not the best but figured the rough look was appropriate.
I'll show some more later. The snow is drying.
Cheers.
Happy Hobbying.

Hello again,
The plan from now on is to post at least once a week and maybe twice on weekends. Given my work schedule this should be doable until I get sent away for a couple of weeks to endure the frozen wilds of Canada. Until then I will continue to post.
Like I said before, I went and found the best mock up sketches and

and after compiling all of the design elements and scrounging my bits boxes, I came up with a plan. Given the time frame I had chosen, Post Heresy, I decided that Roboute Guilliman would most likely be armed with the Fists of Ultramar and would carry a Gladius, possible that of his father as a secondary weapon. He would probably wear some form of Terminator armour as it provides protection and a tactical advantage, going with his personality. Using many of the pieces I already had and custom making templates where needed I started piecing the beast together. I wanted to rush the process so many times and in a couple of places it is evident that I did. That being said, I have also not actually modelled anything in quite a long time.
below is the final product, let me know what you think.
I'm quite happy with the outcome and might build another one to represent him Pre-Heresy as well.
Cheers, and Happy Modelling.

Hail!
I have returned to modelling like Caesar crossed the rubicon. With the interest in the Horus Heresy, and having recently read Know No Fear, I decided to make the Ultramarines 5th Grand Company in the time shortly after the consolidation and embarking on the Great Hunt. The army would include dreadnoughts, tactical squads and a custom model representing Roboute Guilliman. The first thing I was going to do was start with some research. I read the descriptions and searched the great google machine for inspiration. Having found a number of pictures including fantastic cover art and a bunch of deviantart sketches I began compiling what i thought were the bet representations. Some pictures are over the top, but some really great material is available. I'll post some of the pieces in the next post. Next, I began sketching my own ideas. This too will follow. Finally I started putting the pieces together. Below is a teaser of the finished model.
Hope you enjoy. Happy Modelling.

IP theft or am i just a jerk?

So i'm not trying to be a dick, okay yeah i am, but i'm justified.
I designed the template for this Marauder bomber back in the summer of '08. It was posted to a yahoo site, where gamers share scratchbuilt templates. I made a couple of them, but i was just giving back to the community. And today i was looking at another forum that has lots scratch built models. Work in Progress is a great site for all this kind of stuff.

What i'm ticked about is the fact that this guy is building my plane, and didn't give me cred for it.
My name is on it. so all i'm looking for is a bit of credit. is that too much to ask?
Then again, i did my own form of IP theft, so i can't be too picky. lol

After the Christmas Rush
Just had christmas with the family, and i'm feeling tired. given that i'm used to working 80 hrs a week, when its busy, this seems kind of awkward. Good news is i'm getting annoyed and that means i'm going to be modeling.
I am currently working on Forgeworld's Thunderbolt. I have yet to pick out a colour. I'm thinking end of World War II Me 109. We'll see how it works out. Given that i stopped being a cheap bastard and actually bought the model last year, i am pretty stoked to get to this point. I had puchased the model back in Nov '08, with the hopes of completing it over the christmas break. The model didn't arrive until i was already back to work. So i waited another 6 months, until i got a chance to come home again. This time my semi-half brother (Disclaimer: not related to me in any way) had borrowed my model masterclass book. i was not impressed. so finally, after much waiting i arrived home to complete the model. Some of the parts had gone missing, good thing it was only in one place, and they were easy to recover.
so for your pleasure, in a couple of days i will be posting photos of the new model. until then, here are some photos of a marauder destroyer i scratch built out of cheerios boxes.

This is the nose work i hand painted. i called the destoyer "Between the Sheets" because i am a fan of the drink and the implications.
The next photo is a top down view of the entire aircraft. the whole process took a really long time because i wasn't sure how i was going to do it, i had never seen one in real life, and i didn't know how big it was. So i found out how big one of the decals was and then worked back from there. once i had the appropriate measurements on a sheet of paper, i began working on a virtual model. then used that model to make templates to cut out. then i started cutting out paper, and then putting the whole damn thing together.
This is the final product. hope you enjoy it as much as i did making it.
I'll write again in a couple of day, i promise.
cheers.
